Recently Mão no Chão Brisbane has been helping our friends Cordao de Ouro Brisbane in delivering a series of classes to school children in Brisbane State Schools in association with QPASTT (Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma)
The program has already shown some great benifits for the children and has been a fun and humbling experience for us teachers as well.
Thank you to the schools and children involved and the workers from QPASTT who have made it possible!
Recently I have been lucky enough to visit with Angoleiros in other places across Australia and spend time learning and playing.
Last month I visited Treinel Gingadinha and his students at Flor da Gente in Melbourne, and had a great training session and class roda. It was great to meet you guys and I hope to come and play again soon – hopefully for a saturday roda!
Today, I travelled to meet with Treinel Pezão and students at the Gold Coast and despite the rain we had a good time and jogo bonito.
Muito axé camaradas, its great to make these links and keep in touch!

Feliz ano novo para todos! I hope you’ve all had a great festive season. I’ve eaten my fair share and had a relaxing time with family and friends. Excellent!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Heres a link to some footage from the Redfern roda in Sydney that was held as part of the ECAMAR Encounter in Novermber this year.
Thanks to Fofo for filming the game and giving us the footage to use. More to come…
This wednesday we will have a class roda, hopefully with guests from Cortico do Abelha down the coast.
Roda will start 6.30 and if the weather is nice we may even head out into West End for aroda da rua.
See you there!
Last friday myself, Cabeludo and Fofo traveled down to Sydney to ECAMAR for a weekend of workshops from Mestre Roxinho and Mestre Plinio.
As always it was great to see the students at ECAMAR and Mestre Roxinho himself and we would like to thank them for their great hospitality and warm welcome. It was also great to see people from Capoeira Mandinga Aotearoa, ECANT in Tasmania, TMA in Adelaide, Flor da gente in Melbourne and Cortico do Abelha from the Gold Coast.
Great rodas everyday of the workshops (including a fabulous outside game in Redfern) and the workshops themselves were brilliant and we all picked up new skills and concepts. M.Plinios sense of fun and his great musicality were a joy for me in particular and I know that pieces of what we all learned from M.Plinio and M.Roxinho have already started to work their way into our jogo.
I’ll upload some more pics and footage from the weekend soon but meanwhile here’s proof we were there!
On friday Mão no Chão will be heading down to Sydney to attend ECAMARs 5th Capoeira Angola International Encounter for the weekend.
It looks to be a great event with workshops from Mestre Roxinho and guest Mestre Plinio, chat and great rodas with the students from ECAMAR and other students from around Australia and New Zealand.
Hope to see some of you there!
